How we make games
From the record
A game's numbers come from the period's sources and from economic history. Where we have to estimate, we say so.
One set of rules
Every trader in the world, rival or bystander, plays by the rules and costs that bind the player.
History at its hinges
Events run as dated. At the few points where historians read the outcome as open, the player's world can take the other road.
Readable by people and machines
Our games run headless as well as on screen, so they can be tested over decades of play, and AI agents can play them by the same rules as people.
